Dear PFAW Member –
Democrats in Congress did their constitutional duty and they deserve our thanks, as does Sen. Mitt Romney for being the sole Republican to break ranks with his party and vote to convict Donald Trump.
Let’s face it: Democrats conducted a fair investigation in the House and made a strong evidence-based case for impeachment. But then the effort ran into a buzz saw in the Senate with Majority Leader McConnell admitting that he was anything but impartial before the trial even began and then the Republican majority blocking the admission of witnesses and documents, exposing the Senate ‘trial’ as nothing but a sham and a cover up.
House Democrats made a strong case to the Senate and the American people. Senate Democrats held together and all stood on the right side of history with their votes to convict and remove Trump. And Sen. Romney’s choice to make the vote to convict bipartisan was courageous, historic, and a statement of integrity … it says something profound about the state of the modern Republican Party, as the Cult of Trump, that Sen. Romney’s vote may come at great personal cost.
No one is above the law, not even the president. History will reflect the importance of standing up and opposing this cover up.
Thank you for all you did to fight for impeachment and for applauding our representatives who did their patriotic duty.
