Tell Congress that we don't want war with China!

Dear John,

I just returned from a month in China, and now I am heading straight to Washington, D.C.

I spent the last month experiencing China’s poverty alleviation, environmental investments, and economic prosperity.  While I was learning how China invests in its people, the U.S. House Select Committee on China came out with a ten-point plan for “peace and stability” in Taiwan. The recommendations include manufacturing and supplying long-range missiles, providing military training, giving Taiwan $19 billion in weapons, and expanding U.S. bases in the Asia-Pacific. More weapons and militarization cannot make peace; they are preparing for war with China over Taiwan.

I'm going to D.C. to take your message of peace to these committee members and other important members of Congress. Sign CODEPINK’s letter for peace and cooperation with China!

When I walked in Shanghai, there were gardens and parks seemingly everywhere, and people gathered in various forms of sharing, dancing, gossiping, exercising, laughing, and enjoying the beauty. When you walk down the street, you are in beauty, culture, and community all at once. Those are three aspects of life that make us feel truly whole. There was an optimism about life that can only come with economic and social stability. That is what happens when a country invests in peace instead of war.

If U.S. warmongers are insisting on war with China over Taiwan, they will funnel even more money away from social needs here in the U.S. further driving economic insecurity among the people who need it most.

Tell Congress that China is NOT our enemy! I will deliver your message and make sure your voices are heard on Capitol Hill.

We’ve seen this sort of warmongering before when the U.S. government makes enemies of other countries. It has cost U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars, it has taken millions of innocent lives, and it is destroying the planet. We spent two decades fighting a war on terror after the U.S. made enemies of Iraq and Afghanistan. War with China would cost more lives and more money, but it would also be violently destructive to life on Earth.

We must be cooperating with China for the planet and the people, not making enemies of the beautiful people of China, who number almost a billion and a half. What hubris to call them our enemy. I share more here.

We can see with Ukraine, once a war starts, it is very hard to stop, so let us all Stop The Next War NOW!

Sign our letter to Congress saying we don’t want war with China and triple your impact by sending this email to two friends!

Onwards to Peace,
Jodie & the Whole CODEPINK Team
