All of us here at BCAction have been busy behind the scenes curating a thought-provoking and diverse collection of art - and it opens today!
The Drawing the Connections art auction opens TODAY, June 8 and runs through Monday, June 19! ([link removed])

There are so many pieces in this curated collection that demonstrate art-ivism as a driver of social change, and I’d like to share a few pieces that resonated with me personally. See more below!

Cristy C. Road - “AUTONOMY” (9x12, original line drawing, framed)
Cristy C. Road is a Cuban-American artist, writer, and musician. She published Green’zine from 1997-2004, and has released three graphic novels tackling mental health, sexuality, cultural identity, and punk. She has been illustrating for music, publishing, and social movements for over 20 years. Her most recent projects are her band, Choked Up, and the Next World Tarot, a tarot deck focused on revolution. She’s currently writing songs and science fiction in Brooklyn, NY.
Bonnie Neumann - “Forward!” (6x6, KakiShibu Dye and Sumi Ink)
Bonnie Neumann has an MFA from Mills College and has been making art in the Bay area for over 30 years. She has shown nationally and internationally.
Cate White - “Green Emptiness” (11x8.5, work on paper unframed)
Cate White is primarily a painter, but often exhibits her work in multi-media installations that include sculpture, drawing, video and books. She was the recipient of Oakland’s ProArts 2x2 Solos award in 2013, the 2014-2015 Tournesol Award from Headlands Center for the Arts and was included in the Bay Area Now 8 triennial exhibition at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in 2018. Residencies include a fully-funded year at the Roswell Artist-in-Residence in New Mexico, the Atlantic Center for the Arts Master Artist residency with Joan Snyder, and the Mills College API Residency. Her work has been exhibited in 13 solo shows and multiple group shows in the Bay Area and beyond.
