John,

We know the science. In the next decade we must drastically cut greenhouse gases by stopping the extraction and burning of fossil fuels, and transition to 100 percent clean, renewable energy to avert the worst effects of climate change.1

But fracking and fossil fuel corporations are pushing for more: more gas plants, more pipelines, more compressor stations and processing plants, more dangerous storage facilities, and more emissions. Their greed puts the future of our planet in peril.2,3

We’re fighting back. We know the only way toward a clean, renewable energy future is to ban fracking and to stop all new fossil fuel development.

With support from Food & Water Action and our members, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has introduced the first-ever federal legislation to ban fracking and the dangerous infrastructure that enables it everywhere - once and for all. Send a message to your senators asking that they co-sponsor the Fracking Ban Act.

The Fracking Ban Act would immediately halt all new federal permits for fracking and fracking infrastructure, ban fracking within 2,500 feet of homes and schools, and ban fracking everywhere by 2025. The legislation also launches a just transition for fracking industry workers.4

Fracking prolongs our dangerous dependence on fossil fuels. Research from Food & Water Action has exposed the lie that natural gas is a “cleaner” alternative to coal. In fact, if natural gas remains the dominant energy source through 2050, annual greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector will be even higher in the coming decades than they are today!5,6

And regulations can never make fracking safe. The entire fracking process — from drilling a well to disposing of the toxic, radioactive, chemical-laden waste — endangers our air, water and health. Join us to say no to fracking.

As the first national organization to call for a fracking ban everywhere, Food & Water Action is the leader in the fight to ban fracking and stop fossil fuel pipelines.

You have fought with us at the state and local levels because you know the dangers of fracking. Together, we have banned fracking in Maryland, New York and Washington, and in hundreds of communities across the country.

Now it’s time to make the fight national. Send a message to your senators today: co-sponsor the Fracking Ban Act.
