ACCOUNTABILITY

Inspire Ingenuity - A Deeper Dive into CTE Content, July 10-13. This conference will focus on the entrepreneurial mindset and school-based enterprises and will take place at Laramie County Community College. Topics include: ethics in business, marketing, food trucks & carts, cybersecurity, digital assets, drones, student internships and incubator challenges. Register here.


INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

The Information Management team continues to expand the Wyoming Interoperable Data System (WINDS). In March, WDE684 student demographic, section, and special education data was collected in WINDS for the first time. WDE600 Attendance and Membership data will be added in June. Users can receive district and school level daily validation reports, and make corrections directly in the student information systems. Thanks to the WISE Coordinators and SPED Directors for the collaboration and insight.

The Direct Certification process is updating for SY 2023-24. Through an agreement with the Department of Health, the WDE will use Medicaid data for the identification of school lunch eligibility. WDE School Nutrition staff will combine student enrollment information with Medicaid, SNAP and foster care data. Each participating district will receive a roster of students that are identified for free or reduced lunches.?

SCHOOL SUPPORT

McKinney-Vento training will be offered in August with multiple dates and locations available. Information and registration can be found here. Consolidated Grant and McKinney-Vento Subgrant applications are due by June 30.

The inaugural Governor?s Summer Reading Challenge is June 5 - August 18. Schools with the most books read/per student will be congratulated in person by Governor Mark Gordon.? Sample letter to parents, student journal, poster, reporting form, and more information can be found here.?

The WDE626 Literacy Data reporting window closes June 23. The WDE is collecting data regarding K-3 reading assessment, instruction, and intervention processes. 2023 Summer Technical Assistance Retreat (STAR), June 12-14. The 2023 Summer Technical Assistance Retreat (STAR) is an information-packed professional development opportunity for Wyoming School Districts that will be held in Cheyenne.Topics covered will include emergency grants, ESSA grants, special grant topics and a LEA presentations/panels track. 2023 Embracing Literacy Conference, June 21-22. This conference will take place in person on June 21 - 22, at Laramie High School, and virtually on June 27 - 28.? STANDARDS & ASSESSMENT

The WDE is seeking educators who are interested in serving on assessment item review committees. Committees will review items for content alignment to the standards, bias and fairness. Two options are available: WY-ALT Review Committees, July 18-20, 2023, and? WY-TOPP Science Review Committees, Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
