The queer community has so much power — more than 17 million voters identify as LGBTQIA+, and those votes can change the direction of our cities, states, and country. We know there’s power in numbers, especially when we show up to the polls. That’s why so many are working so hard to fight against it, but we must not become discouraged.
As we celebrate the vibrancy and courage of the LGBTQIA+ community this month, we must also use our voices and our votes to fight back against the vicious attacks against the community. Our work is not done until we build a country where all of us can thrive and be who we are. Voting is always in fashion. And for us, it is our duty.
This Pride Month, join us by doing these three things:
🌈 Celebrate the LGBTQIA+ changemakers in your own community.
🌈 Register: Head over to whenweallvote.org to register to vote or ensure your voter registration status is current.
🌈 Organize: Host a voter registration drive in honor of Pride in your community.
On your up days, down days, and all the days in between, I stand with you! As we celebrate Pride Month, remember the work never stops. So put on your best outfit, make space for yourself and your community, and encourage your friends to check their voter registration. Because we are here to stay — and that’s on periodt!
