John –
The Supreme Court just ordered Alabama to draw a second majority-Black district, ruling that the state’s current congressional maps violated the Voting Rights Act and diluted Black political power.
This is a victory for Black voters – and this is good news for our democracy. For far too long, Black voters have been denied their right to fair representation. In striking down Alabama’s maps, this Court’s decision delivered a powerful blow to far-right efforts to silence Black voters.
Today, democracy won at the Supreme Court – but this fight is far from over.
Right-wing billionaires are funding voter suppression efforts in state legislatures and courts across the country that would disenfranchise Black voters. And we know extreme Republicans will continue to fight tooth and nail to pass discriminatory racial gerrymanders and silence minority voters. We can – and we must – fight back.
As your voice in Congress, I’m committed to defending the Voting Rights Act and protecting access to the ballot box from far-right extremists. Will you join me in this fight by making a grassroots donation today? [[link removed]]
