It happened again - Bill and House Democrats passed legislation to raise the debt ceiling and save America’s economy from total collapse. 

This could’ve been done weeks ago if not for Kevin McCarthy and his House Republican colleagues deciding to manufacture a crisis just to get a few headlines. 

But as this most recent crisis made clear, making headlines - not good policy - is all they are doing in the House. 

It was President Biden who put forward a budget to boost opportunity for working Americans, increase access to health care and improve tax fairness. President Biden’s plan would have reduced the deficit by about $3 trillion by requiring the wealthiest households and profitable corporations to pay a fairer amount of taxes. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, we finally enacted historic investments for the IRS to more fairly enforce our tax code.

Time and time again, Democrats save our nation from crises manufactured by GOP chaos. The leadership of the House Republican Party and the radical elements controlling their plans represents a continuing and growing threat to democracy and our economy.
