“Twins living in a state with recreational cannabis laws reported fewer negative consequences from alcohol use than their co-twin living in a non-RCL state,” investigators determined.
Researchers concluded, “More than half of opioid users at baseline were able to [either] discontinue or decrease [their] opioid use after starting medical cannabis.”
Authors determined that these reductions have led to approximately 21,000 fewer criminal interactions between police and young people in the years following nationwide legalization.
