But the truth is, our lives and our businesses are tightly constrained by millions upon millions of government rules and regulations.

For decades now, bureaucratic red tape has bound the hands of hardworking Americans and entrepreneurs preventing them from reaching their full potential.

The U.S. government has an "alphabet agency" for just about everything. The nanny state feels like it has to watch, track, and control virtually everything we do.

In 1936, the number of pages in the Federal Register – the main source for federal regulations -- was about 2,600 pages long. Today, the Federal Register is about 200,000 pages long.

In fact, studies show the economic cost of federal regulations soared well over $1.5 trillion every year.

These days, Congress leaves lawmaking up to Washington D.C.'s permanent bureaucracies while they play partisan political games.

With this power, government bureaucrats issue regulations carrying the force of law without your elected representatives in Congress ever having to be put on the record with a vote on them.

That’s why my son Rand introduced the REINS (Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny) Act to force votes in Congress – without the possibility of filibusters – on any new major regulation.

And in the House, this crucial piece of legislation may receive a vote as early as next week.

With your help today, you and I can help him put an end to this practice and restore the constitutional balance of power between Congress and the executive.

This week, the U.S. House was scheduled to vote on an important bill Campaign for Liberty has promoted for years.

The “Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny Act” – more commonly known as the REINS Act – would limit the Biden administration’s (and future administration’s) rule-making power and restore legislative power to elected representatives in Congress.

As you may have heard, chaos erupted in the House yesterday when conservatives revolted against House leadership over Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s debt ceiling deal and other broken promises he had made to secure the votes to become Speaker.

Nearly one-dozen Republicans blocked a procedural vote – a tactic that hasn’t been used in over 20 years – effectively shutting down consideration of any legislation until their demands are met.

We don’t know how or when this battle will end, but whenever House business resumes, we need to make sure this urgently needed bill advances.

If passed, the REINS Act would prohibit out-of-control government bureaucrats from imposing sweeping new regulations on American citizens without a congressional vote.

Any new regulation estimated to total $100 million or more in economic impact (to include the worst of the worst) would have to be voted on and affirmed by Congress.

In other words, the BATFE, EPA, FDA, IRS, FCC, and HHS can make all the recommendations they want, but their most draconian power grabs will mean absolutely nothing unless passed by Congress with a majority vote in both chambers – the way laws were meant to be passed.

There, you and I will have the chance to mobilize to DEFEAT them – or hold politicians who vote for them accountable!

In effect, passage of this one simple Act would strike a massive blow to government of the bureaucrats, by the bureaucrats, and for the bureaucrats.

But without knowing when the House might return to regular order, I’m afraid you and I must act fast.

Won’t you please take just a moment to sign your “PASS the REINS Act NOW!” petition to the House and Senate right away?

The Biden administration is working at warp speed to bypass Congress and abuse the regulatory power it already has.

A ban on gas stoves, for example, could never pass an up-or-down vote in Congress. But the Biden regime wants to impose a ban by administrative rule. (It’s since retreated to only call for a ban that would make half of today’s gas stoves illegal to buy.)

Just yesterday, Biden’s plan to crack down on gas furnaces was revealed, and if it goes into effect, it will leave many already struggling Americans literally and figuratively out in the cold should they ever need to replace their current units.

And Biden’s ATF unilaterally imposed a rule that required gun owners to register, remove, or destroy their pistol braces.

That’s why it’s so critical Congress pass the REINS Act. The basic idea of the REINS Act—that Congress should vote on the major rules that carry significant impact—is rooted in the core constitutional principle of self-government through elected representatives, not unelected bureaucrats.

Just by having a recorded vote on the REINS Act, we will put The Swamp’s vulnerable defenders in a political bind.

Lawmakers in swing districts will be digging their political graves if they go on record AGAINST legislation to stop unaccountable Washington, D.C. bureaucrats from running our lives.

It’s a win-win situation.

We must DEMAND a roll call vote on this critical legislation as soon as possible!

And then, if you can, I hope you’ll also make your most generous contribution – $200, if you can possibly afford it.

I know that’s a lot to ask for.

But Patriot, should you and I succeed in passing the REINS Act, it would be a massive blow against Big Government.

Bloated and unconstitutional federal bureaucracies will see much of their power stripped – paving the way for their outright ELIMINATION.
