Please join me and Emgage Action in celebrating the confirmation of Dilawar Syed as Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration! This is a historic achievement for Muslim American and Asian American Pacific Islander communities.

It was not an easy road leading to this victory. Despite an Islamophobic disinformation campaign, a coalition of communities from various corners, including Muslim, Jewish, Christian, AAPI, business, and others, came together to advocate for Mr. Syed -- and ultimately, his qualifications prevailed. His years of experience as an entrepreneur and his extensive engagement with and advocacy for small businesses across the nation make him an ideal candidate for this position.

Thank you to all those who tirelessly advocated for Mr. Syed, and who engaged their elected officials to end the prejudiced blockade against him. We thank President Biden and his team, as well as Senators Schumer and Cardin in particular for their steadfast support and resolve to advance this nomination.

Today, we congratulate Mr. Syed and rejoice in this wonderful news. We cannot wait to see the great things he will do in his new position.
