Hey There,

I usually try to keep these emails on the shorter side because I know your
time is valuable. But I’m making an exception today because I’ve got a few
important things to share with you, so it’d mean a lot to me if you read
it through.

Together, we’re on a journey to build a better Maryland. But it’s crucial
that you have all the information on how I plan to get there. Here are
some of my top policy priorities:

Safe Communities for All

As a former prosecutor, I know that it takes courage and cooperation to
keep folks safe.

That’s the energy I’ll bring to the Senate. I’ll fight for common-sense
policies with broad support, like universal background checks for gun
purchases, communicate with experts and stakeholders, and develop smart
strategies that keep Marylanders safe.

Our leaders must ensure that Americans can gather, learn, work, and live
without fear. I’ll work with community leaders, experts, and stakeholders
to keep our communities safe.

A Quality Education, No Matter Your Zip Code

Few things are more important than educating the next generation and
setting our kids up for success. But it’s a sad truth that in Maryland and
across the nation, your zip code is the best predictor of the quality of
your child’s education.

That’s why, as County Executive, I secured historic funding for education,
broke ground on ten new schools, and made sure students could learn
online.

Teachers and students need someone who’s got their back in Washington.
I’ll continue to fight to pay teachers fairly, fund schools at the
necessary levels, and guarantee access to high-quality public education
for all.

Defending the Right to Choose

I won’t mince words: Women’s health is under attack nationwide.

Far-right abortion bans are attacks on women’s health and safety. Far too
many people are being forced to risk legal, financial, and personal
consequences to receive basic reproductive and medical care.

Maryland must remain a safe haven for reproductive rights, and our leaders
in Washington must continue to fight until everyone is guaranteed the
right to choose – no matter what state they live in. I will be a faithful
and committed advocate for choice in the Senate.

A Fairer Economy

Today, the wages of working and middle-class families don’t stretch as far
as they once did. In fact, too many hardworking families are struggling to
simply make ends meet.

A fair economy means that those who work full-time earn fair wages and a
good quality of life. From tackling the housing crisis to reducing
healthcare costs, we have all the tools to build an innovative,
productive, growing economy that also provides workers with living wages
and a good quality of life.

Folks, my to-do list doesn't end there. Dealing with climate
change, modernizing our justice system, protecting voting rights and our
democratic process all make the list. If I’m going to get all this and
more done, I’ll need your helping hand.
