Dear John,
Are you familiar with Macka, Milo, Dobie, and Rad’s story? It’s one that highlights the importance of making informed decisions when it comes to taking animals into your care. Found as baby ducklings by a dumpster at a New York correctional facility, these four have since come a long way.
This group of domestic ducks was left to fend for themselves with no food or water in the cold winter. Once brought to Farm Sanctuary, they were provided the safe space they desperately needed not only to grow but live enriching lives.

Animals are a lifelong responsibility. That’s why making educated decisions based on the animal’s needs is extremely important. Sadly, Macka, Milo, Dobie and Rad’s story is one that is repeated often.
Farm Sanctuary’s efforts in rescue, education, and advocacy are ways that we are trying to combat the abandonment and neglect of unwanted farm animals like them.
- Rescue: Our Farm Animal Adoption Network finds loving homes for thousands of farm animals in need.
- Educate: We’re on a mission to bring public awareness with sanctuary-based programs and research that teaches tomorrow’s leaders about our food system and how to lead with compassion
- Advocate: We’re advocating for a compassionate, just, and sustainable food system nationwide for farm animals, people, and the planet
How can you be a part of this change? Your legacy has the power to move mountains. When you designate a planned gift to Farm Sanctuary in your estate plan, you invest in our programs for generations to come. This simple estate planning tool walks you through the process of making your gift while helping you protect everything you love.
We hope to have your critical partnership in our ongoing work to change the food landscape toward compassion and justice for farm animals.
Sincerely,
Farm Sanctuary
