UPS workers are voting this week to decide whether the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union will strike if a contract agreement isn't reached by the Aug. 1 deadline. The negotiations began in April and UPS says agreements regarding in-vehicle cameras and some other issues have been reached.
White Cap has acquired the assets of Pennsylvania-based Tri-Boro Construction Supplies after the two companies signed a definitive agreement last month. The deal helps construction supplies and safety products distributor White Cap expand its reach into specialty construction supplies and boost its product portfolio.
Freight volumes and prices continue to drop dramatically, according to industry indexes. Spot rates are down to 2019 levels while carriers' energy and labor costs are up substantially over the past four years, with Patrik Berglund, CEO of maritime analytics firm Xeneta, calling the present situation "a collapse" after nine consecutive months of falling rates.
