The Alliance has been held up as the model for creating and sustaining state-based advocacy and legislation to prevent gun violence. During the past couple of years we have been working with partners on the ground in Oregon and Michigan to support the growing gun violence prevention movement and save lives. Investment in crucial state-based infrastructure and movement building remains vital in our fight against the gun violence epidemic.
Last year, Oregon passed Measure 114, the only comprehensive gun safety measure on the ballot in the country. It established a universal licensing system that closes the Charleston Loophole and requires an enhanced background check and safety training for the purchase of all firearms. Now, this lifesaving measure is under attack by the gun lobby.
Our partner, the Oregon Alliance for Gun Safety, has been in court all week defending Measure 114. Members of our team are joining them for the remaining hearing days. To ensure Measure 114’s evidence-backed, life-saving policies can go into effect, we need your support.
John, could you make a donation in support of this urgent effort? [[link removed]]
Gun violence is a preventable epidemic. Just yesterday in Virginia, Shawn Jackson and his father were murdered at his high school graduation. Rather than enjoy a celebration or attend an average day of school, our children are preparing for their deaths.
This is unacceptable. And evidence-based solutions to mitigating violence include every aspect of Measure 114. Please, consider donating to this lifesaving movement. [[link removed]]
