‌Happy Pride Month, John!

First and foremost, I want to express my solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in Delaware and beyond as we celebrate Pride Month. This month is a time to come together and affirm our commitment to fighting for true equality for everyone.

In the past year, our country has witnessed more distressing attacks on the lives and livelihoods of LGBTQ+ individuals. In state legislatures across the country, over 520 anti-LGBTQ+ bills were introduced in 2023 alone. These bills encompass a range of regressive measures, from bans on gender-affirming healthcare to laws permitting discrimination based on sexuality.

We must unite against these hostile attacks and stand up for the principles of love, equality, and diversity that define Pride. As a senator, I remain dedicated to fighting for crucial legislation, such as the Equality Act, that would eradicate discrimination and secure equal rights for those in the LGBTQ+ community.

Above all else, our work for equality does not end with the conclusion of June. It is a year-round commitment that requires our continued support, advocacy, and determination. Together, we can create a society where every person, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, is treated with dignity and respect under the law.
