The Jewish movement to #CloseTheCamps is growing.
This Tisha B’Av, a Jewish day of mourning, we will gather to
collectively mourn the tragedies happening today to immigrants in our
country.
There
are over 36 Tisha B’Av vigils happening around the country on August
10-11. Find your local event here, plus information on how to host an
event in your community.
Organized by T’ruah, Bend the Arc, NCJW, the RAC, J
Street, HIAS, and Torah Trumps Hate in response to a call for action
by United We Dream, the largest immigrant youth-led network in the
country.

Our action together is working. After public
pressure and organizing in Oklahoma — including a mobilization with
indigenous, immigrant, Japanese American, and Black family — Oklahoma
Senator Jim Inhofe put on hold plans to use Fort Sill
as a detention camp for over 1,600 migrant children.
Jewish communities are rising up —
Rooted in the stories, history, and traditions of
our ancestors.
Connected in solidarity with everyone else under
attack by a dangerous white nationalist in the White House.
Learning our own power to end cruelty, demand
accountability, and create justice.

Tisha B’Av commemorates the destruction of the temple and episodes
of violence against the Jewish people throughout history.
This Tisha B’Av, we see destruction, cruelty, and senseless hatred
in the United States: kids in cages, separated families, human beings
being held in camps with inhumane living conditions.
As Jews, we know what it’s like to be in exile, persecuted, treated
as the other, turned away. We know that this administration’s
targeting of immigrants is all too familiar, and we have a
responsibility to act.
Wherever
you are, join our community in mourning the destruction and violence
that is currently being carried out by our government, and call on our
leaders to #ClosetheCamps.
Senseless hatred is in our midst, but we are powerful: together,
can we rise up in solidarity with our immigrant partners and build a
more just world.
