Dear John,
Yesterday, the 2023 legislative session drew to a close, and I am filled with gratitude for what our state accomplished. While so many other states fought national culture wars in their legislatures, Connecticut was a model of positive governance, addressing the real needs and concerns of our residents.
This kind of progress happened for one reason—Democrats leading the charge on our behalf in the state House and Senate. Will you chip in $20.23 right now to show your support for all that was accomplished during the 2023 session? |
In this historic session, Connecticut Democrats, donors, and volunteers like you graciously supported and helped to pass critically important legislation: -
Banned the open carry of firearms, limited the number of guns that can be purchased at one time, and further restricted sales of semiautomatic weapons to people under 21.
- Passed a budget that puts money back in the taxpayer’s wallets by passing the first
income tax cut in nearly 30 years. This will provide millions of dollars in relief to Connecticut’s middle-class.
- Increased the earned income tax credit for low-income workers.
- Protected and expanded voting rights by allowing in-person early voting for the first time in Connecticut, asking Connecticut voters to approve No-Excuse Absentee Ballots in 2024, and strengthening protections against voter discrimination for communities of color throughout the state.
-
Created the Office of the Behavioral Health Advocate to help residents and children access mental health services.
- Signed a bill that reduces sentences or dismisses charges for a wider range of cannabis-related convictions.
That is a lot to be proud of! I am thankful to our state representatives and senators for their hard work for our state. And I am grateful to you for supporting their efforts.
Your donation to CT Dems ensures that we continue to move forward by electing (and re-electing!) Democrats committed to the safety, success, and well-being of every citizen of Connecticut. Let’s keep the momentum going! Donate today. Proudly, Susan Bysiewicz Lieutenant Governor |
