Friends — this is what a climate crisis looks like:
As millions of acres of Canadian forests burn in devastating wildfires – fueled by climate change – almost 100 million people on the East Coast are under air quality warnings. Exposure to the air in New York City is now the equivalent of smoking about six cigarettes.
The devastation and destruction of the climate crisis are not far-off, future threats — they are already here. We are living the crisis, right now.
This is why we need a Green New Deal — to make historic investments in emissions reductions, green jobs, and to rebuild and reimagine our nation’s crumbling infrastructure for a climate-safe future. It’s why we must put environmental justice, clean energy, and job creation at the center of our progressive agenda.
It’s also why we’re asking you today:
This generational challenge is going to require all of us standing together and fighting for a just and livable future. Fortunately, our movement for a Green New Deal and for climate justice is stronger than ever, and is growing each and every day.
