Ripon Society Holds 2024 Campaign Preview with Executive Directors of the NRCC & NRSC
WASHINGTON, DC – With three more Republicans entering the race for President this week, The Ripon Society held a breakfast discussion focused on another critical campaign next year -- the race for control of the United States Congress.
The featured speakers at the discussion were two individuals who are helping to lead the GOP effort to grow their majority in the U.S. House and retake the majority in the U.S. Senate – Jason Thielman, Executive Director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), and Chris Winkelman, Executive Director of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).
“The 2024 presidential campaign has captured much of the country’s attention in recent weeks and months,” stated Jim Conzelman, President & CEO of The Ripon Society. “But the real, and in some ways more important, battle next year will be the campaign for control of Congress. Republicans led by Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy just won a huge victory on Capitol Hill – they passed and forced the President to sign into law the biggest spending cut in history.
“The challenge now is to keep that momentum going and explain to the American people why the GOP is not only the party of fiscal responsibility, but the party that will produce greater economic growth and security in the years ahead. We were honored to be joined by two men who are helping to lead that effort, and appreciate Jason and Chris for taking time out of their busy schedules to discuss how they plan to achieve that goal.”

According to Conzelman, yesterday’s meeting was attended by a crowd of over 50 people and was the 24th event The Ripon Society has held so far in 2023. He also noted that The Ripon Society will host another discussion next week when it plays host to the Chairman of the House Committee on Intelligence, U.S. Rep. Mike Turner (OH-10), who is slated to discuss some of the key threats and challenges facing America around the globe. The discussion with Chairman Turner will be followed by a discussion on June 21stwith U.S. Reps. Bill Johnson (OH-06), Dave Joyce (OH-14), and Buddy Carter (GA-01), who will share their thoughts on the mental health crisis in America and some of the other pressing healthcare challenges facing our nation.
The Ripon Society is a public policy organization that was founded in 1962 and takes its name from the town where the Republican Party was born in 1854 – Ripon, Wisconsin. One of the main goals of The Ripon Society is to promote the ideas and principles that have made America great and contributed to the GOP’s success. These ideas include keeping our nation secure, keeping taxes low and having a federal government that is smaller, smarter and more accountable to the people.
