Fighting to protect what we love.

Hello John

We'd usually use World Ocean Day to celebrate the ocean and all it makes possible, but if we didn't shout out about protecting it then we're not sure what state it would be in.

This time, we're using World Ocean Day to share why activism is so important. Everyone who supports us is an activist, be it petitions, donations, protests, emailing your MP.

Why does activism matter? It matters because 📢 we tried asking nicely and it didn't work. Now we have to do the dirty work in keeping the pressure on the sewage scandals and plastic polluters, reporting the horrific data and sharing it to keep water-users and the ocean safe.

🔴 If we all did nothing because we thought someone else was fixing it, the ocean would already be destroyed.

For years, Ocean Activists across the UK have been battling against the treatment of our waterways. Thirty years of heartfelt campaigning means we're in the best position we've ever been in. We've always been on the right side of the law, and we'll continue to peacefully protest to demand change.

In 1990, Surfers Against Sewage was a campaign group, and by 2012 it was a registered charity making huge waves. Now, we're a team of more than 40, with over 100 reps across the country and 10,000 members that support us. Our Ocean Activists come from all walks of life, and with that support our impact has been huge.

✊ Activism allows us to take action and make change.

From signing petitions and taking part in cleans, to emailing your MP to demand action, and protesting against water companies, however you take part in Ocean Activism - the more you do, the more of a difference you’ll make.

Thanks for sticking with us. Let's keep fighting to protect what we love.

For the ocean,

Team SAS
