Dear Friend,
House Republicans are continuing our mission to find commonsense solutions to the problems our nation is facing. I appreciate your reading this weekly update and continue to encourage you to forward to your family and friends.
Debt Limit
Last week, Congress voted on a bill to suspend the nation’s debt limit. I voted against this legislation. My vote was not a criticism of Speaker McCarthy or his team who worked hard to force the President to negotiate and obtained some positive concessions. I ultimately voted no because our nation is on an unsustainable path and, without additional concessions from the White House, the bill does not do enough to change the financial direction of our country.
D-Day
This week, we honored those who risked everything to turn the tide in WWII, preserving freedom for generations of Americans and others worldwide.
Flag Controversy
The Biloxi National Cemetery, a Department of Veterans Affairs facility, has chosen to fly an LGBT “Pride” flag throughout the month of June on a pole normally reserved for an American flag. The cemeteries dedicated to honoring those who sacrificed so much for our freedom should not be places for political statements. Five members of Mississippi’s Congressional Delegation sent a letter to the Secretary of the VA demanding answers.
Golden Eagles
Mississippi is proud of the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles baseball team after advancing to the super regionals. Good luck, guys!
It is an honor to serve in the United States House of Representatives. Please continue to let me know how I can be of service to you.
