It seems like everyone — at least on the
East Coast — is talking about the air today. Friends are wearing masks
outside. It’s tough to breathe. When you step out the door, there’s a
noticeable gray, sometimes even orange, haze.

I read that NYC has the worst air quality of any big city in the world
today. And it all traces back to these massive wildfires in Canada.

You
probably know that last year the Democrats passed the most consequential
climate bill of all time. That’ll help us prevent big wildfires in the
future. But we have to do more in Congress to hit the goals that
scientists have laid out for us to avert the worst of these disasters.

And the sad truth is that with climate deniers like George Santos and the
Republicans holding the House majority, there’s absolutely no hope of
passing anything serious. But another big push on climate change is within
our grasp if we take back the House in 2024 and elect a new generation of
Democratic leaders.

I bring
all this up to see if you can help me flip NY’s 3rd District from red to
blue. Let’s get George Santos out of there. Let’s get me in there. And
then let’s take more serious action to curb climate change so our kids and
grandkids can live a healthy future with clean air. Are you in?

When you see the haze in the air today or hear about the fires, it’s
tempting to give up on a political process that has failed us for so long.
Some people feel hopeless, and I get it.

But I haven’t lost faith in what we can do with government if we come
together. And the climate bill that Democrats passed just last year should
give us all a little affirmation. We can do hard things if we put in the
work.
