John,

Large portions of the U.S. are currently under air quality advisories as a
result of hundreds of wildfires burning in Canada. As we write this email,
Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. are under a Code RED Air Quality Alert,
and New York is ranking as the worst city in the world right now for air
quality.

We hope everyone impacted is staying safe. If you're able, please follow
health guidance and limit exposure.

John, the truth
is unhealthy air quality is not new for many residents in the U.S. Folks
on the west coast have been dealing with dangerous wildfire smoke for
years, exacerbated by the climate crisis. And Black and brown communities
have been sounding the alarm about harmful air pollutants for decades.

As Summer knows firsthand, communities like North Braddock experience
higher rates of asthma, cancer, COPD, and other diseases as a result of
the prioritization of profits over people.

But just because these problems are not new does not give us an excuse to
be complacent. It is our responsibility to change the trajectory of our
environment so that our children can grow up with clean air and water —
and Summer's working to do that in Congress.

[ [link removed] ]John, we
must fight against environmental injustice in our country today. If you
can, will you chip in now to ensure Summer has the resources to go
toe-to-toe with industry lobbyists and fight for our future?

In April, Summer joined progressive leaders to introduce the Green New
Deal for Health, which would directly tackle the need for health care as a
result of our environmental crisis, whether it be illness caused by
pollution, poor air quality, asthma, or COPD. And last month, Summer
introduced her first bill, the Hazard Pay for Health Care Heroes Act, to
strengthen protections for health care workers during health emergencies
or extreme weather disasters.

This is a crisis of great magnitude, and it requires an intersectional
approach to climate justice, racial justice, health justice, and economic
justice to make progress.

[ [link removed] ]John, our
future is at stake. Will you join this effort with a $5
donation today to help pass the Green New Deal for Health, confront the
climate crisis, and protect our planet for future generations?

Together,

Summer Lee HQ
