Friend,
Welcome back to the May edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of stories and happenings from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. This month, my team and I remembered Northeast Wisconsin's fallen military heroes, welcomed new businesses, and were reminded firsthand about how talented members of our community are.
I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance.
Semper Fi,

Honoring Fallen Heroes: On Memorial Day, I attended the Annual United Patriotic Society Memorial Day Ceremony at Admiral Flatley Park in downtown Green Bay. The United Patriotic Society was joined by several local veteran service organizations that participated in an honor guard. During the ceremony, members of the veteran organizations honored the fallen by placing flowers in the Fox River. I was proud to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. We can never thank them enough!

NEW Adventures: A member of my staff attended the Carol and Bruce Bell Children's Garden unveiling at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens. The new outdoor space is 2.5 acres and features new interactive educational experiences such as a Rain Drop Garden, Wetland Deck & Stream Terrace Garden, Tree Houses, a Lily Pad Splash Play, and much more.

Soaring Eagle Scouts: I was honored to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Nolan Van Miller and Jackson Blahnik at the De Pere Community Center. Every time I attend of these ceremonies, I am blown away by the amazing work Boy Scouts have done for their communities. Congratulations to Nolan and Jackson on this remarkable accomplishment!

Bravo Brat Fry: A member of my team traveled to Rock K Ranch in Greenleaf for the Bravo Company fundraiser where they sold hot dogs, brats, hamburgers, and other sweet treats. Bravo Company, N.E.W. Veterans Battalion, is a veteran program that is aimed at offering resources to bridge the gap during the transition from active duty to civilian life.

Celebrating 100 Years: A member of my staff had the opportunity to attend the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Lena American Legion Post 342. For 100 years, the members of Post 342 have continued to put country before self, just as they did the day they joined the service. A member of my staff also presented the Legion with a congratulatory entry in the Congressional Record, the document that reflects the official proceedings of Congress.

Innovation and Collaboration: A member of my team also attended the grand opening of Schnieder's Innovation Center, The Grove, in-person, and I was grateful for the opportunity to address the crowd virtually. The new 20,000 square-foot facility will foster collaboration and innovation among team members and customers for years to come. Congratulations on this outstanding new addition!

Recognizing Young Artists: This month, we held the 2023 Congressional Art Competition Reception at the Trout Museum of Art in downtown Appleton. During the event, I had the opportunity to view the incredible entries submitted by students throughout the Eighth District. The winner of this year's competition was Emma Olson (left) from Freedom High School for her entry, "Concession." Thank you to all of the teachers and students for participating in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition!

Opening Up Shop: Earlier this month, a member of my staff attended the ribbon cutting event hosted by the Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce for the Hair Loft Salon + Extension Bar located in downtown Kaukauna. Congratulations to owner Carly Rietveld and the entire team on their grand opening!

Over the last 75 years, the Emergency Rescue Squad has played a critical role in the success and safety of communities throughout Marinette County, including the cities of Marinette, Peshtigo, Menominee, and towns of Peshtigo, Porterfield, and Grover.
