Following news of textbook publishers agreeing to censor their educational materials at the behest of state governments like Florida, nine governors joined with Governor Murphy in sending publishing companies a letter to make it clear that censorship will not be supported in schools in each of their states and territories.
In the letter, the ten governors emphasized their belief that censored materials negatively impact core educational goals and values. They urged each publisher to “hold the line for our democracy” and emphasized the negative impact censorship has on students – especially those who are already marginalized and underrepresented – and our society as a whole.
“Our country’s future is at stake,” wrote the governors in their letter. [[link removed]] “You hold enormous influence in shaping how our great nation’s history is told, and the consequences of your actions will reverberate for generations to come…Sanitizing our educational texts for the mercurial comfort of a few today ultimately limits the next generation’s ability to make informed decisions for themselves.”

Yesterday was Primary Election Day across our State! Voting in primary elections is a crucial step in the democratic process and by participating, we can all have a direct say in shaping the future of our party and influencing the overall political landscape. I would like to congratulate all of the victorious Democratic candidates across the State. Now, we move forward to the General Election in November where we will work to protect and expand our Democratic majority in the state legislature.
Chip in now to help us beat the Republican legislative candidates trying to take over the State House and impose an extreme right-wing agenda on New Jerseyans! [[link removed]]

Throughout the month of June, the New Jersey Democratic State Committee will celebrate Pride Month with a weekly spotlight on leaders throughout the state that are spearheading the efforts to make New Jersey a more equitable and fair place for our LGBTQ+ community to love. This week we are proud to highlight Reginald Bledsoe.
Reginald Bledsoe is no stranger to Essex County having been born and raised in Newark, NJ graduated from Essex County Newark Tech, elected as the youngest Democratic District Leader in District 5 of Newark’s Central Ward, and serving as a member of the Newark Board of Education from 2017 to 2020.
Reggie is the Director of the Essex County Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs, one of two offices in the State of New Jersey. He worked in Governor Phil Murphy’s administration for four years, starting with the NJ Department of Education before transitioning to the NJ Department of Community Affairs. He also worked as a Legislative Aide to Essex County Commissioner President Wayne Richardson and former Freeholder President Blonnie Watson. He currently serves as a member of the NJ Performing Arts Center’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Council.
Reggie is the recipient of numerous community awards. He was featured in Observer New Jersey’s List of 50 Powerful Young Black Democrats in 2015 and as one of New Jersey’s 30 Under 30: Political Up-and-Comers in 2016.

This week the U.S. Department of Labor announced [[link removed]] that the economy added 339,000 jobs in May, another proofpoint that President Biden and Democrats’ economic plan is paying off for working Americans. With thousands of new good-paying jobs, families all across New Jersey are seeing the results. Here’s a look at the economic progress our country has made thanks to President Biden and Democrats’ leadership:
*
The
US
economy
added
339,000
jobs
in
May

up
from
294,000
in
April
and
far
exceeding
the
190,000
that
economists
were
expecting.
*
A
record
13
million
jobs
have
been
created
since
President
Biden
took
office,
including
more
than
800,000
good-paying
manufacturing
jobs.
*
The
share
of
working
age
Americans
in
the
workforce
is
at
its
highest
level
in
16
years.
*
The
unemployment
rate
has
been
under
4
percent
for
16
months
in
a
row

the
longest
stretch
of
low
unemployment
since
the
1960s.
*
Overall
wage
growth
is
rising
faster
than
it
has
in
years
for
earners
on
the
lowest
end
of
the
wage
scale,
up
4.3
percent
in
the
last
year.
*
Inflation
has
fallen
for
10
months
in
a
row
and
is
down
more
than
40
percent
since
last
summer.
The numbers speak for themselves: President Biden and Vice President Harris are building an economy that works from the bottom up and the middle out and it’s more critical than ever that we re-elect them to finish the job.
