We can’t keep living like this.
Being shot and killed should not be a risk associated with going to school. We have a duty to protect our children, and every time a bullet flies in an academic setting we are failing them.
My heart weeps in the wake of the tragic shooting at Huguenot High School’s graduation ceremony. Richmond now joins the ranks of countless communities forced to reckon with the reality of gun violence in an academic setting.
We must now come together as a community and wrap our arms around the victims and their families. We must find a better way forward.
Is nothing sacred anymore?
