YouTube reverses misinformation policy to allow U.S. election denialism

Last week, YouTube reversed its policy on election dis- and misinformation that curbed 2020 election lies.

John, this is bad news.

YouTube’s decision to reverse its election integrity policy comes at a critical time for combatting election disinformation. This decision will enable the spread of election misinformation to millions of voters nationwide.

As we enter the 2024 election season, we need to hold bad-faith actors accountable and stop the spread of disinformation. The George Washington Initiative is committed to combating disinformation and defending democracy.
