Hello,
Because we cared, we fought and we showed up, we won a BIG step for student loan borrowers in the House of Representatives.
Our activism convinced the House to vote to repeal Betsy DeVos’ rewrite of the “borrower protection” rule and thereby allow millions of defrauded student loan borrowers to seek the debt cancellation and legal recourse that the original borrower defense rule authorized and that DeVos is trying to stop.
Now, the resolution to repeal DeVos’ version of the rule goes to the Senate. Click here to write to your senator to say: Stand up for defrauded students, and repeal DeVos’ borrower protection rule!
Because of our hard work, and the hard work of so many others, the House took the first step to repeal DeVos’ attempt to hurt defrauded borrowers. Her version of the rule, which was originally intended to help defrauded student loan borrowers get their loans canceled, would force arbitration, eliminate the possibility for group claims, force individual borrowers to come forward with evidence, and impose a new three-year time limit on claims. Now it’s the Senate’s turn. With your help, we can build on this win to secure a victory for defrauded students across the country.
