THOUSANDS of RepresentUs community members signed our petition demanding Congress do its job and pay its bills. Clearly, our movement was fired up.
While we ultimately avoided defaulting on our nation’s debt through a last-minute deal, this whole dramatic saga again made our problem crystal clear: Politicians aren’t working for us.
Make no mistake here, these kinds of political games happen because gerrymandered districts make politicians feel safe because unlimited dark money floods their campaigns, and because corrupt politicians are trying to make it harder for our votes to count.
We know the problems. We have solutions.

We don’t have to accept things as they are. We came very close to default because politicians felt safe enough in their districts to do things that are extremely unpopular and often against the wishes of the people they represent.
