Monthly Newsletter
June 2023
Dear Friend,
June is P r i d e M onth , but here at Ruth's List, we celebrate Pride year-round with our work to support and elect Democratic pro-choice women leaders who will fight for equality in Florida. More so, we are committed to recruiting and training a record number of LGBTQ+ candidates in 2024 who will lead the charge to reverse Florida's hateful and discriminatory policies.
We also know that reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ equality are deeply intertwined. June will be a critical month for petition gathering for the Floridians Protecting Freedom campaign to put abortion on the 2024 ballot. If you haven't already, you can complete your own petition form online at floridiansprotectingfreedom.com/petiton [floridiansprotectingfreedom.com/petiton] — then mail or drop off your completed petition at a location near you. Want to do more? Register to attend a petition collecting training webinar, held every Tuesday at 5pm. [[link removed]]
These next few months will be critical in setting the stage to reclaim our personal freedoms. This ballot measure is an major step forward, but we must ramp up our efforts to elect Democratic pro-choice women to ensure Republicans in the legislature don't try and overturn the will of the people as we've seen in the past.
This Pride Month, let’s pledge to do more to resist ALL attacks on our freedoms and advance equality in Florida.
Keep fighting,

CONGRATULATIONS
We're still riding high from the Jacksonville victories for Ruth's List candidates — Donna Deegan, who was elected the first woman Mayor of Jacksonville, and Joyce Morgan, the first African American and first woman elected as Duval County Property Appraiser. We are thrilled to see these two women make history!

ENDORSEMENTS
Sarah Henry [[link removed]]
House District 38
HD 38 remains a key battleground seat for Democrats and is a top priority race for Ruth's List. This is our second endorsement of Sarah, who came close to winning this seat in 2022. If elected Sarah would be one of the youngest serving members of the Florida State House. Let's make sure she has the resources to win and flip this seat Blue! Make a donation to her campaign here. [[link removed]] Sabina Covo
Miami City Commission, District 2
Ruth's List was Sabina's first organizational endorsement in her February special election, where she cleared a 13-person field to win outright. The first big win for Florida Democrats this year, Sabina's November reelection will continue to help coalesce the party around strong candidates in critical local elections. Donate here [[link removed]] to help ensure she has the resources to win!
