Greetings Friend,

Earlier this week, the Secular Coalition for America held our first-ever Secular Lunch for Congressional Staffers.

As this was the first time we tried this, we didn't know what to expect in terms of attendance. We were fortunate to have Diana Orcés, PhD, from the Public Religion Research Institute, speak to the group about the rise of the religiously unaffiliated and the intersection of politics and religion. She was an incredible speaker that initiated a lot of interesting discussions.

We were thrilled on Friday to have just over 40 folks rsvp. By Monday morning, we had well over 60! In the end, we estimate that well over 70 people stopped by. The crowd was engaged and asked some terrific questions.

In addition, a few of our member organizations were able to send representatives. It was a great opportunity to make new contacts and work to recruit new members to the Congressional Freethought Caucus. It was well-received all around.

Thanks go to Scott, Nnenna, and the great folks in the offices of Congressmen Raskin and Huffman for making this such a great event.

It was a good day, and we're excited to do more events like this in the future.

Have a great day,

Steven
