Public transportation systems across California are facing major budget shortfalls in the aftermath of the pandemic. If not addressed with state funding, agencies will be forced to implement devastating, potentially irrecoverable service cuts that pose a devastating threat to California’s future. We need to burn up the phone lines of Governor Newsom, Budget Chairs Ting and Skinner, Senate President Pro Tem Atkins, and Assembly Speaker Rendon to let them know they must provide finding to save public transportation by the June 15 midnight budget deadline. Please call now and share on social media to let everyone know who you called! We are hearing that the media coverage, calls, and letters are putting pressure on budget negotiators. Thanks to your support, this last weekend’s “Funeral for Transit” events in Oakland and San Francisco were a huge success! So far, we had coverage from major television stations, newspapers, and radio, including The San Francisco Chronicle, The Oaklandside, NBC Bay Area, The San Francisco Standard, KCBS, and KQED.
