Featured Funding Opportunities National Endowment for the Arts - Our TownOur Town is the National Endowment for the Arts’ creative placemaking grants program. Through project-based funding, it supports projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities over the long term.The program demonstrates the ways in which artists, culture bearers, and designers can help to:Bring new attention to or elevate key community assets and issues, voices of residents, local history, or civic infrastructure.Inject new or additional energy, resources, activity, people, or enthusiasm into a place, community issue, or local economy.Connect communities, people, places, and economic opportunity through physical spaces or new partnerships and relationships.Honor traditions shaped by the lived experience of a community’s residents, such as music, dance, design, crafts, fashion, cuisine, and oral expression.Register for informal virtual sessions with office staff to answer questions about submitting a competitive application. Reduction of Truck Emissions at Port Facilities Grant ProgramThis program will provide funding to reduce truck idling and emissions at ports, including through the advancement of port electrification.Eligible uses will include projects that test, evaluate, and deploy projects that reduce port-related emissions through port operations efficiency improvements. Rural Maternity and Obstetrics Management Strategies (RMOMS) ProgramThe purpose of the RMOMS program is to improve access to and delivery of maternity and obstetrics care in rural areas.Eligible applicants are non-profit or for-profit entities providing prenatal care, labor care, birthing, and postpartum care services in rural areas, frontier areas, or medically underserved areas, or to medically underserved populations or Indian Tribes or Tribal organizations. Federal Highway Administration Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program (WCPP)The WCPP is a competitive grant program with the goal of reducing Wildlife Vehicle Collisions (WVCs) while improving habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species. There are more than 1,000,000 WVCs annually which present a danger to human safety and wildlife survival, cost over $8 billion, and result in approximately tens of thousands of serious injuries and hundreds of fatalities on U.S. roadways.Rural communities are encouraged to apply, 60 percent of funding will go towards projects in Rural Areas. Funding is provided for construction and non-construction projects, such as planning, engineering, design, implementation, and research.The Application Deadline is Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (ET). Webinar of the WeekRegister for the Climate Smart Communities Grants Webinar!The Capital District Regional Planning Commission's Sustainability Team will be hosting a webinar on the Climate Smart Communities grant opportunity, including an overview, past examples of funded projects in the region.Up to $7 million is available for grants of between $50,000 and $2,000,000 for implementation projects related to the following topics, among others:Increasing natural resiliency through restoration or preservation of wetlands and floodplains.Reducing future flood risk, including by relocating or retrofitting critical infrastructure.Preparing for extreme weather events.Renewable energy projects in municipally owned public low-income housing.In addition, up to $1 million is available for grants of between $10,000 and $200,000 for planning, inventory, and assessment projects that are aligned with certain Climate Smart Communities Certification actions in the areas of greenhouse gas mitigation, transportation, climate adaptation, and land use. Small Business ResourcesNew York State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI)More than $500 million in federal funding is now available to support the resurgence of small businesses across New York State through the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), a program through the American Rescue Plan Act.SSBCI provides funds to support programs for small businesses, including socially and economically disadvantaged individual (SEDI) owned businesses and very small businesses (VSB), to recover from the economic effects of COVID-19 and allow them opportunity to succeed in the post-pandemic economy. New York Small Business Development Center (NYSBDC)The NYSBDC provides small business owners and entrepreneurs in New York with the highest quality, confidential business counseling, training, and business research at no cost.The Albany Small Business Development Center serves small businesses in the Capital Region.
