It's National Gun Violence Awareness Month, and, John, we need to talk about our gun laws.
Passing common-sense gun violence prevention measures is long overdue. A majority of Americans support stricter gun laws. Yet, House Republicans continue blocking common-sense gun violence prevention measures like:
Passing federal red flag laws to keep firearms out of the hands of potentially dangerous people.
Raising the minimum age to buy semi-automatic rifles.
Tightening loopholes on gun purchases, background checks, and more.
But there is hope, John. Last year, Shontel and the Democratic majority in Congress passed the first gun violence prevention measures in nearly 20 years.
Now, to continue their progress, we must expand our Democratic majority and oust obstructionist Republicans who refuse to take action tragedy after tragedy.
As a Cuyahoga County Council member and Chairwoman of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, Shontel Brown has spent the last decade serving the people of Ohio and building coalitions. Now, as the Congresswoman for Ohio’s 11th District, she will fight for affordable quality health care, jobs that pay fair wages, a strong public education system, and equity and justice for all. Will you join her and be the change we need?
