Right now, 45 million Americans are anxiously awaiting clarity on their student loan payments due to a condition in the debt-ceiling negotiations that will end the student loan payment pause on August 30 and the looming Supreme Court case on student loan forgiveness. Resuming these payments in the middle of an affordability crisis will be crushing.
Americans deserve more financial freedom, not less. They deserve the freedom to buy homes and build wealth. They deserve the freedom to pursue their dreams.
The student debt pause is one of the reasons Ro didn’t vote for the McCarthy Debt Deal. We need something better, something bolder.
We need the Khanna Plan—and President Biden must follow it.
