Taxpayer dollars shouldn't be used for hate. Let's keep Congress in check.
Generation Progress

Hey John

Yesterday, Trump released his new budget and, as unbelievable as it sounds, is asking for $2 BILLION for his border wall. You read that right. $2 billion.

Every year, the sitting president submits their ideal budget to Congress in early February. Congress is the ultimate decision maker about how to spend taxpayer dollars—both in terms of how much money should be spent and how it should be divided up.

For the last three years, Trump’s budget proposals have included nothing but attempts to further his anti-immigrant, mass deportation agenda that directly targets immigrants and people of color.

Worse, Congress has allowed this administration to utilize taxpayer dollars to maximize cruelty, rather than meet real human needs. Our generations are some of the most diverse in American history and this does NOT align our values.

TAKE ACTION

We want our tax dollars to be used to strengthen our communities by investing in education, housing, and health care programs that increase well-being—not bankroll xenophobic policies.

Tell Congress to decrease funding to agencies executing the president’s hate-fueled agenda. It’s time to #DefundHate!

The immigration crisis at the southern border is a direct result of deliberate and cruel decisions made by the Trump administration. Fueled with billions of dollars from Congress, this agenda has only further militarized our borders and put immigrants in danger.

We MUST reject Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda by urging Congress to reduce funding to agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Join us as we fight alongside immigrants for their rights, support, and safety. Let’s #DefundHate once and for all.
