When a tree fell in my 86-year old grandma’s driveway, she didn’t complain — she got out her chainsaw.

She knew it would take days to get a crew out there to clear the driveway, and she had places to be! Grandma took the tree apart herself because folks around here have grit.

In Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula we work hard, we aren’t afraid to get our hands dirty, and we know how to take care of ourselves and each other. Unfortunately, we’re represented by a congressman who doesn’t share our grit.

While Congressman Jack Bergman is bopping between D.C. and his real home in Louisiana, us here in rural Michigan are being left out to dry.

We deserve to be represented by a real Michigander in Congress — someone who will bring the same grit to fighting to bring health care costs down as we do to plowing our streets.

I’m Callie Barr. I’m a 5th-generation Northern Michigander raised in Traverse City and Cheboygan. I’m a military spouse, attorney, and veteran’s advocate. And my grandma with a chainsaw made sure to pass down her grit to me.

I’m challenging Republican Rep. Jack Bergman for OUR seat in Congress. If you’re with me, will you chip in $5 or more today?
