John – conflict, natural disasters, disease and economic degradation had already created a humanitarian crisis in Sudan when intense fighting broke out on April 15. Now, the ongoing violence threatens even more children and families. Here are a few things you should know about this ongoing crisis:
More than 700,000 people have fled their homes. Families sheltering from the violence are going days without food, water and electricity. Schools are closed – many are now being used as shelters.
Even before this conflict intensified, more than half a million children in Sudan suffered from severe acute malnutrition. Now, that number is rising by the day, and the lifesaving medical care they need is harder to access than ever.
Our teams are providing emergency medical aid through a mobile clinic, running child protection activities and distributing essential hygiene items. We will continue to support children and families in Sudan as long as they need us, while actively calling for a ceasefire.
At moments like this, we’re more grateful than ever for supporters like you, John. Your generosity makes it possible for our teams to provide the resources and care kids around the world need to overcome unimaginable hardships like conflict, hunger, poverty and natural disasters.
Thank you for everything you do to create lifelong change for children around the world. Their futures are brighter because of you.
