June is Pride Month – an opportunity to celebrate the history and achievements of the LGTBQ+ community. We honor the legacy of those who bravely stood against discrimination and harassment and recommit ourselves to the work yet to be done for a fairer, more inclusive nation for everyone.

We continue to make major strides towards equality here in West Michigan – last year, Muskegon hosted its first-ever pride festival, and this week Grand Haven will do the same! We are so excited to celebrate with our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors.

While we mark the hard-won progress toward equality for those in the LGBTQ+ community, we must also recognize there is significant work still to be done, including ensuring legal protections for all LGBTQ+ individuals and communities.
