Friends,
Join us this Sunday, June 11 from 11 am to 4 pm at Cathedral Park to Paddle Zenith Out of Portland! Oregon and Washington residents will gather on the Willamette River in Portland to join a nationwide mass mobilization to demand an end to the era of fossil fuels locally and across the country.
On June 11, we’ll come together for a land and water event to:
- Demand Portland City Council rescind their approval of Zenith’s dangerous oil trains
- Call on President Biden to use his executive powers to declare a climate emergency
- Be in community with each other and enjoy a beautiful day on the river
- Fight to end the era of fossil fuels!
Our friends at 350PDX and Mosquito Fleet are putting together a fun, family-friendly event. You won’t want to miss the boats, brass band, free food, kayaktivism trainings, screen printing, powerful speakers, and more! Mark your calendars and RSVP today!
Also – If you feel like getting crafty, there’s an art build tomorrow, June 8 at 5:00pm, at the 350pdx office (3625 N Mississippi Ave.) in preparation for Sunday’s event. Led by Josie Moberg, Breach’s Climate Justice Movement Legal Fellow, the event will have music, banner painting, kayak decoration, poster making, and more.
The Pacific Northwest has demonstrated our people-powered climate movement before—on land and on water!— and it's time to do it again. We hope to see you on Sunday!
