Honoring D-Day

Dear Friend,

Today we honor the 79th anniversary of D-Day, a crucial moment when Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy to begin what became the liberation of France – and later Western Europe – and paved the way for Allied victory in World War II. May God bless those brave men and women – and their families – who answered the call as we recognize their service and sacrifice.

Fiscal Responsibility Act

Last week, the House and Senate passed – and President Biden signed into law – the Fiscal Responsibility Act to prevent a federal default. Since I was sworn into Congress in 2017, I have voted many times against spending more money. I have never had a chance to vote to actually cut spending in a bill that will become law until now. Congress has a lot more work to do to get our country on the right fiscal path, but voting yes on a step in the right direction was the correct thing at this moment. I remain committed to working towards building a responsible balanced budget.

Gold Star Father’s Day

Recently, I joined fellow Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson in introducing legislation to designate November 9, 2023, as national “Gold Star Father’s Day.” We ask everything of our servicemembers, but we also ask a great deal of their loved ones. Gold Star family members carry on the legacy of these American heroes, and our nation is forever grateful for their immense strength and resilience. I am proud to support this bipartisan legislation to designate Gold Star Father’s Day to support the fathers of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Washington, D.C. Tour Information

If you are interested in visiting the U.S Capitol – or other places in Washington, D.C, you can click here to request tour assistance from my office. We can help book tours of the U.S. Capitol, White House, FBI Building, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Kennedy Center, and Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

Tours of the U.S Capitol are offered Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Public tours of the White House take place from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Tuesday to Saturday – and please note that the White House handles this process, and we advise folks to submit their tour request 1-3 months in advance for the best chance of getting approved. Also, FBI Building Tours can be scheduled from Monday to Friday at 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM.
