Friend,

As we enter the month of June, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we have been on together and celebrate the milestones we have achieved in the fight for equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community.

As a gay person, I often questioned whether there would be a place for me in public life. I could never have imagined that as a young person, I would become New Hampshire's first openly gay member of Congress. But Granite Staters have welcomed me for who I am.

From my early days in politics, I have been a staunch advocate for equality and inclusivity. I vividly remember my very first speech on the floor of the New Hampshire House, passionately opposing a bill that sought to deny recognition of same-sex marriages performed in Massachusetts. Although we may not have won that particular battle, it ignited a fire within us to keep fighting tirelessly for equality.

Thanks to the unwavering determination of countless LGBTQ+ individuals, activists, and trailblazers who dedicated their lives to the pursuit of equal rights, we stand here today in a world that is more inclusive and accepting. We owe a debt of gratitude to their bravery and sacrifices. Pride Month is our chance to honor their legacy and pay tribute to the progress we have made so far.

However Pride Month also serves as a stark reminder that our journey is far from over. While we have accomplished incredible feats, there are still members of our LGBTQ+ community who lack the legal protections that are afforded to others. It is our duty to bridge this gap and ensure that every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

That is why, as your representative, I was proud to have co-sponsored the Equality Act to prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. And it's why I will never stop fighting to fend off attacks and dangerous anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and sentiment from some of my extremist colleagues.

This Pride Month will you join me in the fight for equal rights by making a contribution to our campaign? Your generous support will empower us to stand up against the extreme opponents who seek to undermine the progress we have made. >> [link removed]

Lastly I am thrilled to share with you that my husband Vann and I got married earlier this year! We feel so fortunate to have found each other and to be building our life together, and we’re grateful for the love and support of family, friends, and supporters across the Granite State.

Thank you for standing with me.

Chris
