At Girls For A Change (GFAC), every day is a celebration of our freedom and a joyful recognition of the perseverance and spirit of Black people, especially our Black girls.

** What is Juneteenth?
------------------------------------------------------------

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared a formal end to slavery in the United States. However, change was not instant after the proclamation. Nearly two and a half years later, on June 19th, 1865, the enslaved African Americans of Galveston, Texas got the news by way of the Union army troops that freedom had come at last.

The next year, the people of Galveston commemorated that day as Juneteenth, a celebration of freedom. Since then, it’s been observed in communities and states as a holiday, but officially recognized as a federal holiday in 2021.

We invite you to celebrate Juneteenth beyond one designated day. Commemorate the freedom we have achieved and the freedom we are still working to achieve all month long.

** Make Your Annual Fund Donation Before the Close of Our Fiscal Year (June 30)
------------------------------------------------------------

Continue to work in solidarity for racial justice, equality, and equity by making your annual donation to GFAC before we close out our 2022-2023 fiscal year.

Your annual donation funds ongoing programs and operations throughout the year. Donations to our Annual Fund are unrestricted, meaning that GFAC can use the money as we see fit, including in support of our Building campaign.

The Annual Fund provides a way for alumnae, parents, employees, volunteers, and friends, like you, to impact Girls For A Change year after year. Gifts designated to the Annual Fund directly support every aspect of the GFAC experience (from space to operations to unforgettable experiences).

By making an annual contribution, you enable GFAC to continue advancing opportunities for Black girls and bolster the quality of programming offered to every participant. Furthermore, you provide a critical and consistent stream of financial support that helps GFAC become financially resilient and sustainable.

Annual Fund donors can make direct contributions to the Annual Fund (donate here ([link removed]) ) or contribute through the following annual giving programs:
* Support Our Building Fund ([link removed])
* Give through VA's Neighborhood Assitance Program ([link removed])

Investing in Black Girls’ futures goes

------------------------------------------------------------

Help us close the gaps Black girls face by investing in the dreams, joy, worth, and leadership of Black girls. By giving to GFAC, you join in supporting over 1500 "at promise" girls who participate in Girls For A Change every year, fortifying the lives of Black girls for generations to come.

We thank you in advance for your interest in annual giving and encourage you to share and continue to give to Girls For A Change monthly or annually.
