Friend.
Did you know there are over 500,000 veterans living in Illinois? A big portion of our state’s population has served this country courageously, and they deserve our utmost respect and appreciation. Our veterans also deserve to thrive in their daily lives – and the government has a role in making that happen.
That’s why for 75 years, Congress has funded special grants to expand accessible housing for disabled veterans. In fact, Rockford’s Laurent House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, was built with one of the first such grants. I was honored to be in Rockford last week to celebrate the 75th anniversary of this important program.

Friend – Our veterans must be able to live comfortably, and it’s Congress’s job to make sure that we not only have the backs of the people who put everything on the line for us, but we give them access to the services and the care that they deserve.
As I write this, I’m working on legislation in Congress to increase funding for veterans’ housing improvement projects. You can show your support for this proposal, and for our thousands of veteran neighbors, by signing the petition below.
