Save the Children Action Network is the political voice for kids.
John, I bet you’ve heard about the debt ceiling.
Last month, some House Republicans were calling for devastating cuts to child programs. But advocates like you spoke out.
Here’s the latest news:
*
Congress
passed
a
compromise
debt
ceiling
bill
on
Thursday
*
It’s
better
than
past
proposals

but
still
not
great
for
kids
and
families
*
Federal
spending
will
increase
by
just
1%
each
of
the
next
two
years
*
It’ll
limit
the
impact
of
child-focused
programs

especially
when
you
account
for
inflation
The next step for lawmakers is deciding how much funding to give to different programs.
The next step for us, John, is pushing them in the right direction. If we don’t protect programs that families rely on, hundreds of thousands could lose life-changing support .
So, we’ll be in touch when the timing is right. I hope you’ll join us then.
Thanks for being a voice for kids,
