** Used solar panels.....Cheap!
------------------------------------------------------------
BBC ([link removed]) (6/4/23) reports: "While they are being promoted around the world as a crucial weapon in reducing carbon emissions, solar panels only have a lifespan of up to 25 years. Experts say billions of panels will eventually all need to be disposed of and replaced. 'The world has installed more than one terawatt of solar capacity. Ordinary solar panels have a capacity of about 400W, so if you count both rooftops and solar farms, there could be as many as 2.5 billion solar panels.,' says Dr Rong Deng, an expert in solar panel recycling at the University of New South Wales in Australia. According to the British government, there are tens of millions of solar panels in the UK. But the specialist infrastructure to scrap and recycle them is lacking. Energy experts are calling for urgent government action to prevent a looming global environmental disaster. 'It's going to be a waste mountain by 2050, unless we get recycling chains going now,' says
Ute Collier, deputy director of the International Renewable Energy Agency. 'We're producing more and more solar panels - which is great - but how are we going to deal with the waste?' she asks."

** "Before we give in to climate anxiety, we should ask what the concerns are and what evidence indicates these concerns are warranted."

Were we not told the cost of wind only gets cheaper?

** WWLP ([link removed])
(6/5/23) reports: "The developer behind SouthCoast Wind wants to cancel its contracts and secure more money to build 1,200 megawatts of offshore wind power, throwing uncertainty over a majority of the already-approved energy capacity in the state’s offshore wind pipeline. SouthCoast Wind, a joint venture of Shell and Ocean Winds, signaled to Rhode Island regulators that it plans to follow the lead of another developer and scrap a pair of previous agreements with utility companies. The developer concluded that its 800-megawatt project bid selected in 2019 and its 400-megawatt project bid selected in 2021 are no longer financially viable at the previously negotiated prices."

The fundamental transformation of America requires transformers.

** Wall Street Journal ([link removed])
(6/4/23) reports: "Empty dirt lots are scattered across American cities where developers once planned to build new homes. The problem isn’t that builders can’t find workers or obtain permits. They lack the electric transformers required to connect homes to the grid. 'We were so concerned about things like lumber and appliances, and those all help. But then all of a sudden it was this power transformer—you can’t get them,' a home builder in Greenville, S.C., told a Fox affiliate in March. 'We have 106 town-home sites and so we’ve only been able to get the first six going.' Transformers step up or step down electrical power that passes through transmission and distribution lines. According to the American Public Power Association, 1 in 5 housing projects has been delayed or canceled owing to shortages. The pandemic dearth of semiconductors, appliances and cars eased as demand ebbed and supply increased, but don’t expect this one to let up anytime soon."
