The fight starts now. Defeat the EATS Act! ([link removed])

Friend,

We’re gearing up for our biggest fight, and we need every animal advocate to stand with us. Congress will soon take up the Farm Bill and possibly decide the fate of millions of animals.

The Farm Bill is a legislative package taken up by Congress every five years and covers a wide array of food and agricultural programs. In prior years we have used it to pass pro-animal welfare laws—like a ban on the dog and cat meat trade—but we have also had to fight to ensure dangerous legislation that is harmful to animals is not included. And this year is no different with our opponents looking to use the Farm Bill to pass legislation like the Exposing Agriculture Trade Suppression (EATS) Act, which could have catastrophic consequences for animals.

The EATS Act could wipe out humane state laws that ban the cruel confinement of egg-laying hens, mother pigs and veal calves. The EATS Act’s broad language could also destroy hundreds of state laws protecting against other terrible cruelties—like puppy mill abuses, the inhumane killing of animals for the wildlife trade and painful experiments on animals for cosmetic testing.

We must ensure legislation like the EATS Act is not included in this year’s Farm Bill! Please tell your legislators to fight against inclusion of legislation like the EATS Act in this year’s Farm Bill and to support a Farm Bill that protects animals. ([link removed])

If we don’t stop the EATS Act, even the most basic protections for animals could disappear, dooming animals to lives of suffering and cruelty. We must succeed in pressing our elected leaders to include strong animal protections in the Farm Bill.

Friend, essential animal protections are under attack, but with your support, we can defend them. Let your legislators know you oppose the EATS Act and any legislation like it—and urge them to do all they can to ensure it’s not included in this year’s Farm Bill. ([link removed])

Thank you,
