Hunger on College Campuses Often Hides in Plain Sight
CBS News New York recently highlighted food insecurity among college students. Hunger Free America CEO Joel Berg explained that the expiration of federal COVID-era SNAP benefits will only make this problem worse.

For 40 years, Hunger Free America has been a fierce champion in the fight for economic, racial, and food justice. Our 2023 Spring Benefit was held on May 11th at The View at The Battery in New York City. Thank you to everyone who attended, and to our outstanding honorees:
Raj & Anna Asava, Co-Founders of HungerMitao
Hon. Carolyn Maloney, former Congresswoman
Perkins Coie, LLP
Students from the Amsterdam School of Business visited NYC for a week of networking with various corporations. Looking for respite, students volunteered at HFA to learn about hunger in America and connect New Yorkers to food security programs.
Our CEO Joel Berg released a statement on the debt ceiling bill, which will raise the age for work reporting requirements for able bodied adults without dependents from 49 to 54. The bill would also eliminate work requirements entirely for homeless people, veterans, and young people aging out of foster care.
As Congress debates the Farm Bill this year, which is responsible for most major domestic hunger programs, we urge you to oppose additional cuts to SNAP funding, and to support all of HFA's Farm Bill Priorities.
