“It’s a great honor to serve. And I’m still at that phase where I pinch myself every single day walking these halls, where so many great people have done so many great things,” Vance told Spectrum News in an interview last week.

Vance’s (R-OH) bipartisan rail safety legislation — introduced in the aftermath of the devastating train derailment and “controlled” chemical burn in East Palestine, Ohio — picked up a significant endorsement on Monday from the former president.
Former President Donald Trump, who visited East Palestine after the incident, praised the Railway Safety Act of 2023 on Monday via his Truth Social account while knocking President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for their lack of urgency.

“Unfortunately, we've got a lot of food insecurity in this country right now because of high food prices, because we're still recovering, I think, from the economic consequences of the pandemic. We still have a lot of people who need food support. That includes our seniors, people who through no fault of their own are struggling to feed themselves, and that includes a lot of children in the greater Cleveland area.
"So this place is doing important work. I think we've got to make sure it continues to be able to do that important work, and that's one of the reasons I was here, to understand the challenges and also the opportunities a little bit better," Vance said.

J.D. Vance praised what he called “an incredible specialty chemicals facility in the heart of southeast Ohio” and said he wants help from Washington, D.C., to keep it that way.
Vance, R-Ohio, made the stop Thursday afternoon as part of a tour of a variety of businesses and community organizations in the state, as well as Rickenbacker Air Force Base in Columbus.
He spoke with Solvay officials and workers about some of the challenges they face, including a shift away from raw materials coming from within the United States.
“We should not be getting so much of our stuff from East Asia, especially China,” the freshman senator said, describing America’s trade battle with that nation as a “cold war.” “We’ve got to make more of our own stuff.”

Vance told Newsmax Monday that President Joe Biden’s administration is trying to sweep the border crisis “under the rug” by downplaying the number of illegal migrants coming across the border after Title 42 ended last week.

“Think of the effects that this has on working Americans’ wages to have 10 million more people who shouldn’t be here competing for jobs,” Vance said. “Think about what this does for housing prices, when you have to house 10 million people that shouldn’t be here, that drives up the costs of housing when interest rates are already through the roof.”
“This is economic warfare and theft of the American dream from American citizens, that is the big problem here and that’s why we have to keep fighting it,” he continued.

A near-capacity crowd of 530 listened to remarks by the Republican senator, followed by a question-and-answer session. Vance gave his views on current topics in Washington D.C. including the debt ceiling talks, corruption in the federal government, and the importance of getting the Republican party to defeat Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in the next election.

J.D. Vance, a Cincinnati Republican that would nullify a District of Columbia police reform law that Vance says increases crime and makes “it harder for police officers to do their job.”
After the vote, Vance released a statement that called it a “victory for the safety and security of every American who visits our nation’s capital,” and a strong message of support for its police officers.
“With this vote, Congress has sent President Biden a clear and bipartisan message: the American people have rejected the radical left and they want to see law and order in Washington,” it continued.

Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) calls Ohio ‘ground zero’ for opioids coming from Mexico. He says they’re now the leading cause of death among young people, and why so many children go through life without their parents.

And what Joe Biden has done is refuse to negotiate from the very beginning. He's basically playing Russian roulette with the country's finances and telling Republicans they need to do exactly what he wants them to do or he's going to drive the American economy off the cliff.
